Week 1 Review
Sep 7th, 2008 by Matt
My thoughts on this weeks games played so far:
Dallas 28 Cleveland 10
Cowboys looked like one of the top teams in the league today. Tony Romo for the most part looked sharp having all day to throw which the offensive line showed why they are one of the best in the league right now. Running game looked solid with Marion Barber who left the game with supposedly sore ribs, but Felix Jones and Tashard Choice looked good for being rookies. Defensively the Cowboys played solid football. If they don’t have two third down penalties for first downs the supposedly high powered offensive Browns don’t score. Was good to see the Boys come out on the road and beat a decent team. The Browns need to get a few things straightened out, I don’t think they need to panic just yet they ran into a good Boys team so improvement can happen.
Atlanta 34 Detroit 21
The Matt Ryan Era started off on a great note throwing a touchdown pass on his first pass of his career. Michael Turner set a Falcons rushing record rushing for 220 yards and gave Falcons fans a lot of hope for the future. I’m not gonna say they make the playoffs, but this team will give teams a run for there money and not be a joke like last year. The Lions were the Lions I really have nothing good to say about the Lions right now.
Buffalo 34 Seattle 10
With Tom Brady’s season in question the way the Bills played against a real bad Seahawks team today will give Bills fans some hope on the season and maybe a playoff spot?? A lot depends on the health of a certain Patriot. I think they need to be tested a little more before playoffs can be talked about but they are heading in the right direction. Seahawks right now aren’t worth talking about they will be a bottom feeder this season.
New York Jets 20 Miami 14
Two of the worst teams last season both didn’t look bad but they didn’t look great. Brett Favre was Brett Favre he had some good moments and some bad. But I think if Pennington was quarterbacking the Jets they would have lost this game. Favre is just able to make throws the CP couldn’t make and they will win a few more games this year that they wouldn’t have been able to win in the past. As for Miami they will be a little more competitive but I still don’t think they will win more then 5 games this year. Give Parcells 2 or 3 years and they should be alright.
New England 17 Kansas City 10
Big news is the Brady injury that doesn’t sound like good news. They just beat probably the worst team in the league this year who also had to go to there back up quarterback by a touchdown at home. It will be interesting to see how the Patriots do without the best quarterback in the game. The talk of undefeated will end quickly this year. I still think they have plenty of talent to make the playoffs but it might be a little tougher. The Chiefs right now need to find a quarterback they are in a worse situation then the Bears right now.
